B'wood gets a taste of Italy
Bollywood's item girls had better watch out. There's competition for them from across the seas in the shape of famous Italian actress Maria Grazia Cucinotta who has signed up for a Bollywood film titled Bollywood Cop. Cucinotta plays an Italian woman making a living in Mumbai as a Bollywood item girl in the movie, which will be produced by Cucinotta herself. Aditya Basu Bhattacharya, whose film Dubai Return was premiered last year at the International Film Festival of India, will be directing it. Irfan Khan will play the Indian cop who misuses his power and position to exploit the girl.
Meanwhile, Disney Studios is reportedly working on a Bollywood feature film based on a TV musical loosely inspired by Shakespeare's romantic tragedy, Romeo Juliet. The film will star actors from India.
