Deven Verma is no more

The film fraternity gave a tearful farewell to veteran actor Deven Verma, who passed away at his home in Pune on December 2 following a heart attack and kidney failure. He was 78 and is survived by his wife Rupa Ganguly, the younger daughter of the late legendary actor, Ashok Kumar.

Deven is best remembered for his roles in comedies directed by Basu Chatterjee, Hrishikesh Mukherjee, and Gulzar, especially for his sparkling performances in Angoor and Khatta Meetha. He was last seen on the big screen in 2003 in Calcutta Mail.
