Good Sports: Table Tennis Pro League Features Several Indian Players
Major League Table Tennis (MLTT), the first professional table tennis league in the U.S., will begin its third season in September with 10 teams, including two new teams, the New York Slice and the Atlanta Blazers. The Blazers, coached by Suzi Battison, have a roster of eight players, including Jeet Chandra from India. Chandra is one of several players of Indian descent competing in the league. Adi Sareen is on the Los Angeles Spinners; Nandan Naresh and Anirban Ghosh on the Texas Smash, and Nikhil Kumar and Sid Naresh on the Portland Paddlers.
Brothers Nandan and Sid, who began playing table tennis in the basement of their family home in Naperville, Illinois, are also members of the U.S. men’s national team. Founded in 2023 by software entrepreneur Flint Lane, MLTT signed its first-ever national television deal this past January, giving CBS Sports Network the right to air MLTT matches, highlights, player profiles, and behind-the-scenes features.
