Good Sports: Padukone School of Badminton Expands to More Cities
Indian badminton legend Prakash Padukone continues to have a huge impact on the sport. His daughter, actress Deepika Padukone, recently celebrated his 70th birthday by announcing that the Padukone School of Badminton (PSB), which she founded and funded a year ago, has expanded to 75 coaching centers in 18 Indian cities.
“As someone who grew up playing badminton, I’ve experienced firsthand how much this sport can shape one’s life — physically, mentally, and emotionally,” Deepika wrote on Instagram.
Prakash, a former World No. 1 and All-England Open champion, serves as the mentor and director of PSB, which plans to expand to 100 centers by the end of 2025 and 250 centers within three years. The grassroots academies will develop young players all across India, sending the most talented players to three high-performance centers in Bengaluru.
“Through Padukone School of Badminton (PSB), we hope to bring the joy and discipline of Badminton to people from all walks of life, and build a generation that is healthier, more focused, and inspired by sport,” Deepika wrote.
