Good Sports: PITCHING AT YALE

Rinku Singh and Dinesh Patel, the Indian baseball pitchers who were discovered through the reality TV show Million Dollar Arm and depicted in the Disney movie of the same name, didn’t quite make it to the major leagues, but played several years of professional baseball in the minors and showed the potential that Indians have in the sport.

Kumar Nambiar, one of the top left-handed pitchers in New York State, is also demonstrating that potential. After going 10-0 his senior year and leading the Mamaroneck High School team to the Class AA state championship, Nambiar will continue his stellar career at Yale University.

“Growing up, there weren’t any initial hurdles, except for the fact that I wasn’t good at pitching,” Kumar told Lohud.com. “Until high school, I was never close to the best, but as I improved other teams would sometimes be surprised by the way I threw.”
