Good Sports: RESTAURATEURS HELP BUSHFIRE VICTIMS
Kanwaljit Singh and his wife Kamaljit Kaur, owners of Desi Grill in Bairnsdale, Australia, have been hailed for helping victims of the bushfires that have claimed dozens of lives and destroyed more than 2,000 homes.
They have donated thousands of meals of curry and rice, which have been distributed to people living in temporary shelters by the Melbourne-based charity Sikh Volunteers Australia.
“People are severely affected and they need food and shelter. It’s our duty to serve them when they need us the most,” Singh told SBS Punjabi. “We follow the Sikh way of life. We are just doing what other Australians are doing today, and that is to serve and pray for the people who have been hit hard by these terrible bushfires."
