Good Sports: TOP-RANKED BOWLER

Ravichandran Ashwin finished 2015 as the topranked Test bowler in the world, the first Indian to accomplish the feat since Bishen Bedi in 1973.
The 29-year-old off-spinner from Chennai began the year at No. 15 and moved gradually to the top, as he took 62 wickets in nine Tests during the year. An injury to South Africa’s Dale Steyn helped Ashwin make the final leap to the No. 1 spot.
“Replicating what Mr. Bedi did is something I am very proud of,” Ashwin told The Hindu. “The former India captain was a master at his craft and I am very humbled to follow in his footsteps.”
