Good Sports: BIG BANG EDUCATION
Kunal Nayyar, star of The Big Bang Theory, grew up in New Delhi and come to the U.S. in 1999 for a business degree at University of Portland in Oregon. It was there that he started taking acting classes and appearing in school plays. He knows the importance of education and wants to help others who can’t afford some of the programs that benefited him.
He has started a scholarship at the University of Portland, helping children go to the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival, and another scholarship at Temple University that assists two students a year.
“When I was in college, without some help from people I would not have been able to get through my education, as many people do,” he told India West. “I promised myself that if I ever got in a position to give back, I would really focus on education.”
