Good Sports: President Paraag
If you follow the National Football League, you’re probably familiar with San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke, but not so familiar with another front-office man with double A in his name: Paraag Marathe.
Marathe, who has worked for the Niners for 13 years, the last three as chief operating officer, was recently promoted to team president.
The 36-year-old Marathe, who has an MBA from Stanford, joins Shahid Khan, owner of the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Vivek Ranadive, owner of the NBA’s Sacramento Kings, as part of a small but growing presence of South Asians in American professional sports.
Compiled and partly written by Indian humorist MELVIN DURAI, author of the novel Bala Takes the Plunge.
