Narasimhulu Neelagaru honored for championing art
The City of Suwanee celebrated the success of its Art for All campaign with a community gathering that highlighted the contributions of Dr. Narasimhulu Neelagaru, whose early support helped lay the foundation for the city’s public art movement. Launched in 2019 with a $1.25 million goal, the campaign exceeded expectations by raising $1.7 million through the generosity of residents, civic partners, and local organizations. The city leaders recognized Dr. Neelagaru as the campaign’s first major sponsor and a driving force behind Suwanee’s commitment to integrating art into public spaces. Mayor Jimmy Burnette credited his leadership and philanthropy with helping shape Suwanee’s identity as a community that values creativity and connection. A new donor recognition wall unveiled at the celebration also honored the Neelagaru family’s pivotal role in the initiative. He is a recent recipient of the Ellis Island Medal of Honor for his outstanding commitment.
