The STAR (Student Teacher Achievement Recognition) program honors Georgia's outstanding high school seniors and the teachers most instrumental in their academic development. Michael Eric Lomax, from Albany, Georgia, is the 2010 State PAGE STAR Student, and Abhijeeth (Abhi) Ramesh, from Cobb County's George Walton Comprehensive High School, is Runner-up. Michael named Carole Wiles, his eighth-grade language arts teacher at Merry Acres Middle School, as his State PAGE STAR Teacher. Abhijeeth chose Kelly Bryan, his AP language instructor, as his STAR Teacher.

Michael, an only child to single parent Jaye (Jigisha) Lomax, graduated from Westover High School. He attends Yale on a full scholarship, and is a recipient of a Gates Millennium scholarship as well as the Sam Walton and Robert C. Byrd scholarships.
