Tony Patel running for state representative seat in Georgia’s 47 district
On May 3rd, Tony Patel, an architect and businessman based in Alpharetta, officially announced his candidacy for the State Legislative Assembly seat in Georgia’s 47th district.
After two decades in the architectural field, designing commercial projects throughout the U.S. and around the world, Patel formed his own firm in 2004. His investment company, Newport Ventures, focuses on hotel, residential real estate and retail businesses in Georgia. Practicing fiscal responsibility and long range planning, revenue for his various businesses has grown eight-fold in the last seven years, and he now employs more than 20 people. Patel’s history of community service dates back to his college days in Arizona. He spent the last several years providing the resources of his firm to assist in the design and construction of the Shree Swaminarayan Mandir complex in Lilburn, Ga. More recently, he has volunteered his time as a Junior Achievement Instructor at local schools where he taught economics to seventh graders.
In addition to fiscal responsibility, expanded PeachCare eligibility and protecting our environment, Tony Patel has pledged to fight for higher pay for teachers, expanded pre-K for 3-year-olds and protection of the Hope scholarship program. “The infighting in the Georgia General Assembly this past year has resulted in promises made by politicians not being kept,” Patel said. “My job as State Representative will be to make sure the voices of hardworking taxpayers are heard.”
The campaign is expected to reach out to over 25,000 targeted voters to solicit their concerns and desires for better legislative policies, which Tony plans to focus on once in office. In addition to working with the state political parties, current legislators and other candidates for office, Tony Patel has received early support from USINPAC, an organization committed to bringing forward the concerns of Indian Americans in the U.S. His campaign website can be viewed at www.patelforgeorgia.com.
