Veena Rao Included in 2010 Limca Book of Records

Atlanta resident Veena Rao has earned a place in India’s Limca Book of Records. The ‘National Record 2010’ citation, signed by editor Vijaya Ghose of the Limca Book of Records, reads as follows: “Veena Rao, based in the U.S., is the first non-resident Indian woman to edit and publish a newspaper abroad. Her monthly newspaper NRI Pulse, published from Atlanta since 2006, serves the Indian American and other South Asian communities in the U.S.”

Rao, who also worked as a journalist in India, has a master’s diploma in journalism and communication from the Symbiosis International University and a master’s degree in economics . “It is important that people know what’s happening in their community, and the country they live in,” she was quoted as saying. “It is important that they stay abreast of happenings in India. This is vital for the socio-economic and cultural growth of the community as a whole.”
