A SHORT INDIAN GLOSSARY: ZAMBHALA
It’s the name of India’s first yoga, music, and life spirit festival. Held in Goa last month, the festival featured yoga gurus and a series of yoga-related events, both indoors and on the sun-drenched beaches of Morjim. There were group and individual sessions—but it wasn’t only for traditional practitioners. This eclectic festival aims to be an annual affair. One saw representatives of the B.K.S. Iyengar Yoga School and the Ashtanga Yoga Institute, along with New Agers who dabbled in crystal healing, astro-gazing, Shamanism, group channeling, etc. How about calling them New Yogers next year?
