Announcement: The Next Big Thing At Khabar
For more than three decades, Khabar magazine has been privileged to serve as the trusted chronicle and connective thread of Metro Atlanta’s Indian American community. Month after month, year after year, we have arrived in your mailboxes and found a place in your minds and hearts with informative, entertaining, and thought-provoking cover stories, interviews, essays, perspectives, short fiction, and more. With a particular focus on our local community, we have spotlighted the individuals and institutions that matter to Atlanta Indians and have reported on countless events celebrating our roots.
A 360° Community Media Platform
Today, we are excited to share the next big step in our evolution: a complete redevelopment of Khabar’s website into a modern, real-time multimedia platform that will carry our mission forward for the next generation. This ambitious, long-overdue initiative is more than a technical upgrade—it is a reimagining of how community media can serve, inform, and inspire in a rapidly shifting digital world.
Our print edition remains strong, beloved, and widely read. It will continue to be the bedrock of our media presence. Yet reaching today’s readers—especially younger audiences and busy professionals—where they already are, on their phones, on social platforms, and in formats that move with the speed of life, will greatly enhance the value and reach of our core print platform.
Our new digital ecosystem will allow us to repurpose our award-winning longform print content—with its unparalleled focus on Atlanta’s Indian community—for a vastly wider audience, and in ways that meet the moment:
• Short-form video reels on TikTok and Instagram offering quick takeaways from our long-form journalism.
• Teasers and explainers on Facebook, LinkedIn, and X, designed for community engagement and shareability.
• A digital community hub, updated throughout the month with developments relevant to Indian Americans in Atlanta and beyond.
• Topical email newsletters—from immigration updates to education, health, food, and civic engagement—tailored to community needs and interests.
• A smart, mobile-first website capable of supporting multimedia storytelling, robust search, community resources, and a richer experience for readers and advertisers alike.
A Project Rooted in Community Value
This transformation is not driven by trendiness or commercial pressure. It comes from listening to you—from conversations with readers, contributors, advertisers, students, and young professionals who want a media platform that reflects who we are today.
Atlanta’s Indian American community is expanding rapidly. Our children—who grew up seeing Khabar on the coffee table—now rely on TikTok and Instagram for discovery, Spotify and YouTube for conversation, and curated newsletters for depth. To serve a multi-generational community, our media must be multi-platform.

The Best is Yet to Come!
This new chapter is the most ambitious step we have taken since Khabar was founded. It reflects our commitment to honor our past while embracing the future—to remain not only relevant but essential.
We are building this platform for you and with you, because community media thrives only when the community itself stands behind it. In the coming months, we will share updates, seek feedback, and invite you to participate—whether as readers, contributors, students, volunteers, or partners.
Thank you for being with us for 30 years. With your support, the best is yet to come.
Warm regards,
The Khabar Team
