Letters from Readers

Kudos for Khabar magazine
I am a long-time reader of Khabar magazine and love the content. Specifically, I loved the stories about Indian standup comics in the February issue (“Jest for Laughs”) and the coverage of East vs. West values in India in the March issue (“Urban India’s Rich Cultural Tapestry”). I also liked the article on meditation therapy (“Searching for Tranquility”) and the story on Dev Benegal (“Behind the Scenes with Dev Benegal”) in the same issue. In a world of instant content and scrolling, I love the slow pace of reading a physical magazine with such thoughtful content.
Keep up the good work, and here’s wishing all the best to the entire Khabar crew!

Article connects the dots in difficult times
An article in your April issue (“Movies That Shine a Light on the Current Moment”) insightfully connected the dots between contemporary politics, society, and culture. Trump 2.0 decimated its targets within and outside the government, often acting harder and swifter than before. It crushed all legitimacy concerns in a more crisp, cruel, vengeful, and unresisted way. The article referred to a dealmaker, even though in reality no serious deal-making efforts have been seen so far, either on economic or geopolitical fronts! There is still no word on the thawing of the frozen grants for Columbia University, even after it capitulated to absurd demands. The infamous quotes of Roy Cohn in The Apprentice movie were well referenced in the article. It might be worth mentioning, in this context, that the movie I’m Still Here, which won the Golden Globe and Oscar this year in the foreign film category, depicts how fragile democracies could be. “This is precisely the time when artists go to work,” as Toni Morrison noted.

New city emerges with global outreach
For Indian Americans who watch NDTV, Mableton Mayor Michael Owens recently appeared on this TV channel to discuss trade tariffs. The mayor has been introducing the new city to the world. Mayor Owens has also made appearances on the local public radio station WABE and nationally on CNN. For people looking at emerging neighborhoods with decent homes in a safe, up-and-coming area close to the city and the Atlanta airport, consider Mableton as the next destination for your home. This city is about to undergo a massive transformation, since neighborhoods that were part of Smyrna are now part of Mableton. The city is part of the Cobb County School district, which has some of the best schools in the nation. The city is a hidden gem for people looking for a place to find a home.
