Catnapping in Chowdhury's Comfy Chair

Arshad Chowdhury had a dream. He would like you also to dream, but preferably while taking a power nap in his custom-designed MetroNap chair. Chowdhury came up with the idea when he was working at an investment firm. Luckily for him, he had the foresight to quit his job and pursue his dream. Chowdhury calls MetroNaps, which he started in 2003, a fatigue-risk-management company. His ergonomically designed chair, dubbed the Energy Pod, is a futuristic contraption that helps one sleep.

How does it differ from the old recliner in your den? Think of it as an upgrade from economy to business class. The comfort level is higher, along with the price tag. Energy Pod’s special features include its state-of-the-art design, a built-in music system and an armrest timer that does wake-up calls in a soothing, non-intrusive manner. Besides the Energy Pod, MetroNaps offers employee fatigue assessment and training to workers in the U.S., Germany, Britain, Hong Kong and Australia.
