Dhoop Chaaon brings a digital play, Bade Ghar Ki Beti
February 2021 - In November 2020, Dhoop Chaaon, a 13-year-old Hindi theatre group in Atlanta, presented Bade Ghar ki Beti, a play over digital media. This play was filmed and presented at an online theatre festival, Prayash 2020, organized by Swati Dey Productions. It is based on a popular story written by the famous Hindi author, Munshi Premchand who was known for touching upon social issues faced by the peasant class.

Vibha receives Love Takes Action Award from New York Life Foundation
February 2021 - Vibha has been awarded a $50,000 Love Takes Action Award from the New York Life Foundation. The grant will support their commitment to every child gaining quality public education in the U.S. and India by enabling scalable solutions to drive excellence in the quality of public education.

Aabaha organizes International Theater Festival
February 2021 - Atlanta-based theater group, Aabaha organized an International Theater Festival. Planned as a global event, the festival was hosted digitally on December 5, 6, 12 and 15 of 2020 where twenty-four groups from nine different countries participated. Ten groups were from across the U.S., while others were from India, Bangladesh, Canada, England, France, Sweden, Netherlands, and Dubai.

Johns Creek Art Center hosts a drive-up family Diwali event
January 2021 - On November 7, Johns Creek Art Center hosted a drive-up family event to help residents celebrate Diwali. Deepa Lahoti, Johns Creek Art Center board member, said that the part of the Arts Center’s mission is to celebrate the diversity in Johns Creek and help teach others about the cultures around them.

Atlantans rally in support of Indian farmers
January 2021 - Almost three hundred protestors gathered outside the offices of Consulate General of India in Sandy Springs on December 15, 2020, in solidarity with farmers in India who are fighting against the new farm laws. These protestors were voicing their support in fighting against new agricultural policies that many fear will harm farmers’ livelihoods in India.

Gala Diwali event by TAMA
January 2021 - Telugu Association of Metro Atlanta (TAMA) celebrated Diwali on November 21, with more than 250 people attending this online event. TAMA Cultural Secretary, Suresh Bandaru welcomed everyone and conveyed Diwali wishes. He also explained the significance of Diwali. TAMA President, Bharath Maddineni spoke about the objectives of TAMA and how the organization has adapted, planned, and executed its activities during Covid times.

January 2021 - Ambaji USA—Shri Shakti Mandir in Lake City, Georgia, celebrated Diwali throughout the four days of Dhanteras, Kali Chaudas, Diwali, and the New Year. Ambaji pujaris were available all day for consultation.Diwali celebrations at Sanatan Mandir began on Nov 12, 2020 with Dhanteras. Also known as Dhanvantari Trayodashi, it is a tradition at Sanatan Mandir to invite all the doctors in the community to perform puja for Lord Dhanvantari.
