    Pujari Atlanta organized Durga Puja 2020 December 2020 - Pujari Atlanta, a nonprofit formed in 1986 to foster understanding between the people of Bengali origin and Americans, organized a virtual Durga Puja in the times of the pandemic. Enjoying the patronage of most Bengali families in metropolitan Atlanta, Tennessee, Florida, Alabama, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Arkansas, the organization organized Durga Puja this year while trying to keep every volunteer and member safe.

    BAGA organized Durga Puja 2020 December 2020 - Due to the pandemic, Durga Puja 2020 was conducted as a virtual event so that Bengali Association of Greater Atlanta (BAGA) members could enjoy the festivities from the comfort of their homes.BAGA members participated in Anjali and Aarti virtually. Food was available to be picked up by the members after the Puja. BAGA magazine, Pratichi, published a multimedia alternative with seperate versions for children and adults on the occasion.

    Atlanta chapter of HungerMitao has raised funds to provide meals to one million people December 2020 - The Atlanta chapter of HungerMitao, which was launched at the Atlanta Community Food Bank on October 2, 2019, has since been able to raise enough food and funds to provide one million meals to people in need. HungerMitao is a volunteer-driven grassroots movement focused on raising awareness about hunger in the U.S., improving community engagement, and channeling resources and contributions of the Indian American community to fight hunger through the Feeding America network of food banks.

    Food4Lives raises funds for sleeping bags as winter approaches December 2020 - As winter months approach, volunteers at Food4Lives (F4L) are working to provide sleeping bags for the homeless around Atlanta. Serving people experiencing food and housing insecurity in Atlanta, Food4Lives team has been serving fresh meals since the lockdown in March 2020.

    Gandhi’s timeless message shaping India, says Consul General Dr. Swati Kulkarni on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti November 2020 - The Gandhi Foundation USA (GFUSA) together with the Consulate General of India, Atlanta, celebrated 151st birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi on October 2, 2020. This day is also marked as ‘The United Nations International Day of Nonviolence.’Nations International Day of Nonviolence.’ The celebration, at the Gandhi Statue on the grounds of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park, was attended by dignitaries, Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Consul General of India in Atlanta, and Georgia state senators Angelika Kausche and Sheikh Rahman.

It revolves around the delicate fabric of a neighborhood where everybody came together to help a neighbor. A timely concept especially in these Covid times, the play emphasizes that simple things in life and helping each other out are at the heart of humanity.

    Heartfulness hosted a global virtual summit on International Day of Peace November 2020 - On September 22, 2020, Heartfulness Institute hosted a virtual summit on ‘#Connecting for Peace’ to commemorate International Day of Peace in association with United Nations Information Centre, Global Citizens India, Give India, Spirit of Humanity Forum, the Fetzer Institute, Sewa International and Gandhi Foundation.

    74th Independence Day observed at CGI, Atlanta in a muted manner October 2020 - Unlike previous years, there was no public celebration to observe 74th Independence Day on August 15, 2020 at Consulate General of India (CGI), Atlanta. Due to the pandemic, only the Consulate members were present. Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Consular General of India in Atlanta, hoisted the Indian flag and wished all Indians everywhere a Happy Independence Day.

    Townhall hosted by They See Blue Georgia and South Asians for Biden Georgia October 2020 - They See Blue Georgia and South Asians for Biden Georgia hosted a virtual townhall on September 10, 2020 for the community to voice their concerns and questions to three senior policy advisors to Vice President Biden. The advisors to attend the townhall were Dr. Anand Parekh, a member of the Biden Covid taskforce; Seema Sadanandan, a civil right advisor; and Georgia native Indi Dutta-Gupta, co-chair of Biden’s economic policy task force.
