On April 2, 2016, American India Foundation (AIF)’s 2nd annual Atlanta Fundraising Gala was held at the Atlanta Athletic Club in Johns Creek to support AIF’s Learning and Migration Program (LAMP).

Atlanta had a musical treat when Rajdeep Chatterjee and Group performed at Global Mall on April 3, 2016. Starting the event with flair of the Holi festival, guests entered a hall fragrant with fresh flowers and incense and were welcomed with a gulaal teeka.

The month of April saw dogwood trees in full bloom and bought special life to Atlanta’s Piedmont Park. Dance groups Moksha and Nazaaqat were featured in the International Village.

Dr. Mohamed Keshavjee, an Indo-Canadian lawyer, mediator, and author, was honored on April 5, 2016 with the Gandhi-King-Ikeda Award for Peace at the Martin Luther King Jr. for his work on international cross-cultural mediation, peace building, and conflict resolution.

On the 10th anniversary of the unjust targeting of two Atlanta Muslim youth—Shifa Sadequee and Haris Ahmed—Project South, Justice for Shifa, and several co-sponsoring groups held a panel discussion on April 7, 2016 at Masjid Al-Mu’minun, titled “Real Talk about the ‘War on Terror’: Islamophobia, Preemptive Prosecution, and the Attack on Dissent.”
