Over the years, he has received dozens of calls from scammers trying to dupe him using a range of schemes, some even claiming to be IRS agents and demanding payment of back taxes through iTunes gift cards or Western Union transfers.

Dharamveer Malik competed in international competitions as a junior wrestler in the 1990s. A knee injury cut his wrestling career short and he never won a medal, but he recently got to enjoy a podium finish vicariously through his 19-year-old daughter, Anshu Malik. Competing in the 57 kg class at the World Cup in Belgrade, Serbia, Anshu won a silver medal, bringing tears to her father.
