How much do you know about current events in India and the U.S.? Try this short quiz!

1. The city of Seattle raised its minimum wage to $15 an hour, thanks largely to a movement led by Indian- American city councilor Kshama Sawant, a socialist.

2. A candidate named Rakeshkumar Christian, who ran unsuccessfully for Governor in California, attributed homosexuality to HBO, alcohol, and bad parenting.

3. A Mumbai restaurant used a drone to deliver a pizza to a customer in a high-rise building 1.5 km away.

4. The two co-champions of the 2014 National Spelling Bee, Sriram Hathwar and Ansun Sujoe, each misspelled one word.

5. Giving an example to help Sriram Hathwar spell a word, a National Spelling Bee judge inadvertently referenced the lyrics of an explicit song called “Milkshake.”

(All five incidents really happened.)

Compiled and partly written by Indian humorist MELVIN DURAI, author of the novel Bala Takes the Plunge.
