Will India qualify for the soccer World Cup Finals in the foreseeable future? It’s unlikely, but there’s always the chance that India will one day host the event.
The Indian team won’t be in Russia in 2018, but they did do something they hadn’t done before: get past Round 1 in the preliminary completion. They achieved this by beating Nepal 2-0 in a home-and-away series. But after losing five of their six matches in Group D of Round 2, they’ve been eliminated. It’s not too soon to start dreaming about 2022. Maybe next time they’ll be able to handle Turkmenistan, Guam, Oman and Iran.
