Roshani Chokshi: Author Talk & Signing
Author Talk & Signing
Both the Mahabharata and the Carlos Museum fired the imagination of author and Emory alumnus Roshani Chokshi ’13C as she wrote Aru Shah and the End of Time, recently released under the new Rick Riordan Presents imprint. Set in the fictional Museum of Ancient Indian Art and Culture in Atlanta (which Chokshi based on the Carlos!), the novel recounts the adventures of 12-year-old Aru Shah who, in order to save face before a group of frenemies, lights an ancient Indian lamp in the museum and unwittingly sets in motion the destruction of the world.
Roshani Chokshi revisits the Carlos to share the story of Aru Shah with families and give a special tour of the South Asian collection before her talk to a lucky few. Visit the Carlos Museum Bookshop before September 21 to enter a free raffle for a spot on this tour.
Aru Shah and the End of Time will be available for purchase at the event.
Children will also have an opportunity to make their own clay diya (lamp) like the one Aru lights in the story!
Roshani is the author of the young adult novels The Star Touched Queen (2016) and A Crown of Wishes (2017).
The Star-Touched Queen was a finalist for the 2017 Locus Award for Best First Novel and for the 2017 Andre Norton Award.
Her children's novel, Aru Shah and the End of Time was published in 2018.
Chokshi attended Emory University.
She has Filipino and Indian heritage.
