MOVIE REVIEW: Baadshaho

Baadshaho is a heist thriller set against the 1975 Emergency in India. But the Emergency bit has no real significance. It’s basically a cops and robbers tale with lots of action. So if you are an action junkie, this could be the movie for you. If you are not, you will find little that appeals to you, unless you love whistle-worthy dialogues. But even those feel recycled!
Rani Gitanjali (Ileana D’Cruz), whose gold has been seized by the government, asks her trusted lieutenant Bhawani (Ajay Devgn) to steal her gold back. So the smitten guy puts together a bunch of desperadoes—Tikla the locksmith (Sanjay Mishra), daredevil ruffian Dalia (Emraan Hashmi), and Sanjana (Esha Gupta), who along with Bhawani, set out to hijack the armored truck full of gold, on its way from Rajasthan to Delhi. Vidyut Jammwal plays the army officer protecting the vehicle.
Sanjay Mishra gets some of the best lines in the film along with Emran Hashmi, who is back in his loutish avatar. Oh yes, Emran also gets to sizzle with Sunny Leone in an item song! Ajay goes through the motions, expressing whatever he has to through his eyes, as he always does. There is also a Sanjay Gandhi look-alike, if you please! Ileana and Esha are just pretty mannequins in this desert adventure.
Baadshaho is old wine, in a not very new bottle! But if you still want to drink, go ahead!
