Vaishnavas walk, sing in Johns Creek Founders Day Parade
January 2012 - The City of Johns Creek's fifth anniversary celebration included the Gaudiya Vaishnava Association (GVA) in both the parade (with their ratha yatra) and the music fest (with sankirtan). Similar cultural activities!

Dance Homage to Lord Nataraja
January 2012 - At the Hindu Temple of Atlanta dances celebrating Lord Shiva included dancing with diyas and balancing a sword on the head! Several teachers and students participated, coordinated by Sujaya Dixit.

6500 walked to ease global poverty
December 2011 - Atlanta’s 2011 Walk raised over $1.2 million, with all funds going directly to projects, e.g. for girls in Afghanistan to go to school, for farmers in Mali, for mothers in India, and more.

Young artists draw up “My world, My future”
December 2011 - GlobalArt held its 2nd National Competition, with children from 4 years to 13 years old competing. Atlanta winners were Ruya Jiwani, Anoushka Misra, and Anika Vennel (previously a Doodle4Google State Finalist).

Third Eye Dancers’ “Enchanted Snow White” raises funds for Bhutanese Refugees.
December 2011 - Bharathakala Natya Academy and several nonprofits presented a dance drama based on the Snow White fairy tale, as a fundraiser for Bhutanese refugee children’s education. The story focused on beauty of character.
